Did You Know This About Hong Kong ??

How Long Can I Bring My Parents & Sister To Us From Hong Kong?

I’m US citizen and would like to bring my parents and sister (unmarried, over 30 yrs old) to US from Hong Kong. …
a) where should I file the forms? US or Hong Kong?
b) how long for their waiting? as I know parents should be faster.
c) if their health is not good, e.g. cancer, heart failure, brain disease. are they ok to come? how’s the insurance in Philadelphia?
Many thanks for your kind respond.

If you’re currently living in the US, you would need to file the I-130 immigrant visa petitions in the US through USCIS. The petitions for the parent will certainly be far faster, since those would be immediate relative petitions. However, once you’ve filed the petition, it will take USCIS at least six months to process it and then send it on to the National Visa Center for additional processing. The NVC contacts you to ask for an Affidavit of Support and a fee to process that and the petitions usually take several months to process there before they are sent on to the consulate in Hong Kong. But, your sister’s petition, under the F4 family preference category, won’t be valid for use for 11 years, so it will be quite some time before the NVC contacts you on that one, unfortunately. if your parents health is poor and they will likely need care in the US, you will need to be able to show how you will be able to provide that care. If you can’t do that, their applications could be temporarily refused until you can show your financial ability to handle the situation. I don’t sell medical insurance, so I can’t answer the last question. I’d suggest you shop around, since you have some time before you’ll need it.
